Saloon’s (Or Sedans in America) are effectively a larger version of a coupe with a fixed roof. A saloon is identified by its roof; it will usually have a 3-pillar configuration, meaning it will have 3 solid supports holding up the cabin which clearly identify 3 boxes. An engine compartment, passenger compartment and boot compartment. This makes the car larger than Coupe’s by default. The car is popular with luxury car drivers, larger families, and most commonly businessmen and commuters. Due to its large size it is usually a good car to spend a lot of time in due to its comfort on commutes to and from work.
Downsides include the high buying price of both new and used cars as well as the inevitable high mileage on used models due to long commutes. Popular examples are the Audi A4, Volvo S40 and the Volkswagen Passat.
